How did he/she propose?

Matt proposed down south in a private chalet in Denmark WA on the stroke of midnight. We counted down 3,2,1… I said "Happy New Year". He said "Happy Engagement!"

What unique elements or DIY details did you include?

We decided to do a twist on the classic wedding photo booth and hired a caricature artist for the reception!

What did you envision your wedding being prior to planning?

We both wanted a small intimate ceremony with only our nearest and dearest family, followed by a raging, party-style reception.

Tell us about your flowers, your gown, your favors, your cake, etc.

We went for a very classic look: white and pearl. This was reflected in the bridal bouquet of long stemmed white roses, plinths draped with a white arrangement, and a pearl belt added as a touch of flair to the Made With Love dress.

What was your favourite moment?

As the dance floor hit its peak, the band started to play a familiar riff. Egged on by the crowd, everyone went nuts as the groom got on the mic and began to rap. “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy. There’s vomit on his sweater already, mum’s spaghetti…” Nothing beats some Eminem, rapped in a tuxedo.

Any other cool stories about the day?

Leading up to the day, the weather forecast started to turn sour – wind, clouds and showers with only a slim chance of the sky clearing in time for our ceremony. We woke up on the day to rain beating down, and began fielding calls from vendors asking for the new ceremony venue, and texts from loved ones sending consolations. However, we stuck to our guns and put our faith in Google’s weather app! Just as the furniture set up began, the clouds parted and the sun shone, becoming a perfect Spring day. Looking back at photos you would never know we were desperately crossing our fingers for the rain to disappear!
