Banter with: Kathryn & Marcus
How did he/she propose?
We have been together for 7 years and Marcus has always been fairly ambiguous when discussing marriage ect. So I wasn’t expecting a proposal any time soon. But, we went on a weekend trip to Warburton and he popped the question in Redwood Forest. It was the best surprise, as I thought I’d always know when it was coming. He also had asked my partners who live in Spain the week before. When getting ready to head off to Warburton I was wondering why Marcus wasn’t keen on sharing a bag but turns out my ring was hidden in the bag.
What unique elements or DIY details did you include?
Our wedding was fairly simplistic, we didn’t have too many frills for the big day. But, we did make our wedding cake toppers for the top of our Krispy Kreme donut tower, two little gold dinosaurs one with a veil and one with a bow tie.
What did you envision your wedding being prior to planning?
We are fairly laidback and didn’t want anything too formal or traditional. Our vision was simplistic and low key without too much fuss. We got ready together while drinking Champaign and met Dhyan at the Fitzroy conservatory with a fairly loose plan. After a couple hours of photos around the city we met our friends at the Garden State for a few pre-wedding drinks then made our way to our quickie ceremony at the Old Treasury Building followed by more drinks. In the British fashion, our day revolved around drinks.
Tell us about your flowers, your gown, your favors, your cake, etc.
We didn’t have a traditional cake, we opted for a large tower of Krispy Kreme donuts with wedding topper dinosaurs (staying close to the non-traditional theme). We didn’t have a sit down meal, instead opting for a 2 meter charcuterie table provided by Graze By Steph which was a show stopper. Our flower arrangements and bouquet where created by Bloom Blessing , beautiful white and blush pink long stem roses. My dress was by Rachel Gilbert, I actually found it during my lunch break and it was the first and only dress I tried on. Who can say no to beading and a feathered hem. *chef's kiss*
What was your favourite moment?
Marcus and I don’t take a lot of photographs so we really enjoyed taking photos around the city with Dhyan who made us feel super comfortable. And also evening where we hired out the George Lounge in St Kilda and danced until the small hours. Having all our friends in one place was spectacular.
